Situated in the Macedon Ranges of Victoria, Kyneton offers a range of local attractions and events and is ideally positioned as a base from which to explore the region's stunning and diverse landscape.
Kyneton Museum
The Kyneton Museum features a selection of historic collections and regularly changing exhibits, located in the 1856 bluestone Heritage Victoria-listed former bank building.
Turpins Falls
A short 12.5km scenic drive from Kyneton on the Campaspe River, the 20 metre high Turpins Falls and billabong can be viewed from a nearby lookout, or at the base and rock pool closer for the more adventurous.
Campaspe River Walk
Take a relaxing stroll along the Campaspe Riverside Walk, which starts near the Mollison Street Bridge and winds its way through to the Kyneton Racecourse. Plaques along the way provide information about historic features, the platypus and fish species that inhabit the river, and directions to adjacent attractions like the Sculpture Park (with BBQ and picnic area).
Kyneton Daffodil & Arts Festival
Enjoy the visual and performing arts, flower shows, open gardens, crafts and more as the start of spring is celebrated with the Kyneton Daffodil & Arts Festival. A series of events and activities are held around the town, concluding on the last day with a Grand Parade including performers, bands, dancers, vintage cars and more. The region is also famous for its wineries and vineyards, and the lack of light pollution makes for ideal stargazing conditions.
Hanging Rock (Ngannelong / Mount Diogenes)
Rising to 718m above sea level and the setting for the novel and movie, Picnic at Hanging Rock, this amazing geological formation is just 15 minutes' drive from Central Highlands Motor Inn.
